Valentine F. Heinz


Valentine F. Heinz was born at
Charleston, Ind, Feb 18, 1881, to
John and Catherine Heinz.

As a boy he farmed with his
father, later moving to Louisville,
Ky, where he worked as a street
car conductor, and then to Champlain,
Ill., where he farmed for two
years. He bought a farm and moved
to Mitchell in 1904.

On Sept. 1, 1909, he was married
to Mae Crampton and to this union
five daughters and three sons were
born. In 1947, because of failing
health. Mr. and Mrs. Heinz and
Mary moved to Mitchell.

Mr. Heinz died Sept. 4, 1958 at
St. Joseph's Hospital in Mitchell.
He was confined to the hospital for
over a year.

He is survived by five daughters,
Dorthy Marks, Clovis, N.M.
Eunice Weber, Dimock, Beatrice
Kayser, New Brighton, Minn.,
Geneveive Currier, Menlo Park,
Calif, and Mary Winn, Wabasso,
Minn., three sons, Virgil of Alexandria,
Clinton of Rockwell City, Ia.,
and Kenneth of Marion, Kas.; two
sisters, Mrs Frances Baumgart,
Dimock, and Mrs. William Steinke
of Tigerton, Wis.; 10 nieces and
nephews, 41 grandchildren and one
great - grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his
parents, and two brother, Joe
and Fred.

Funeral services for Mr. Heinz
were held Sept. 6, 1958, at the
Holy Family Catholic Church with
the Rev. J.M. Brady officiating.

The children's choir of Notre
Dame sang the Mass at the service.

Pallbearers were Ernest Raish,
Frank Boyle, Henry Oster, Peter
Schoenfelder, Virgil Hohn and Albert
Schoenfelder.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery
in Mitchell.
